Trash Trap Program

Designed to help mitigate stormwater pollution in our waterways, the Haw River Assembly needs help maintaining the trap as it collects plastic pollution. Trash traps are placed in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, Greensboro, and Pittsboro. Clean-outs typically occur the last Saturday of the month, but may change based on the volume of trash and safety concerns around water levels. Volunteer to clean out a Trash Trap here!

The anticipated 2024 clean-out dates are January 27th (10 AM-12 PM), March 16th (10 AM-12 PM), April 27th (10 AM-12 PM), May 25th (10 AM-12 PM), June 29th (10 AM-12 PM), July 27th (10 AM-12 PM), August 31st (10 AM-12 PM), September 28th (10 AM-12 PM), October 26th (10 AM-12 PM), and November 30th (10 AM-12 PM).

Muddy Water Watch Program

The Muddy Water Watch is an initiative to reduce stormwater runoff from construction sites. Partnering with county Sediment and Erosion Control programs, Haw River Assembly provides training, materials, and the tools necessary for volunteers to properly identify and report sediment and erosion control violations.
