Hike & Journaling Workshop

This educational outdoor adventure is for everyone; however, as we acknowledge and support our mission to create diverse and inclusive spaces for nature exploration, we also encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to participate in this event. Nicole Gaines, Board President of Haw River Assembly, will facilitate active learning during this event. Nicole has an extensive background in outdoor education, earth-care advocacy, and environmental activism and justice. She serves the Greensboro Community Sustainability Council, the Sierra Club, the North Carolina Climate Justice Collective, and Piedmont Environmental Alliance in a variety of leadership roles.

Participants can expect an easy short hike on a looped trail through wooded forests and pasture land. We will have enlightening conversations, and collect items to make our keepsake nature journals with both supplied and found materials from nature.
Students as young as age 11 may participate; however all youth under age 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Participants should bring a snack, water bottle, and personal health care items as needed. Comfortable closed-toed shoes and layered clothing are highly suggested. A waiver from Haw River Assembly must be signed prior to the event.
