Alfie Fearrington will guide the event. Fearrington is an avid birder with an unquenchable passion for exploring the world’s avian wonders through her binoculars. Her journey in birding not only fuels her soul but also inspires my dedication to wildlife conservation. Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of birding! Explore the fascinating realm of the birds that call Saxapahaw their home, both year-round and during their migratory journeys. Sharpen your talents for identifying our feathered neighbors through sight and sound as they prepare for the impending fall migration!

What to Bring: Binoculars, Water Bottle, Bug Spray and Sunscreen Notebook-pencil (If you’d rather just use your cellphone may I recommend the Merlin app for IDing and eBird for tracking)

What to Wear: comfortable shoes, dull colored clothing, hat, rain gear (just in case)

Participants may be as young as 11 years old, but anyone under 18 will need to be accompanied by a guardian. Participants should bring a snack, water bottle, and personal care items needed. Comfortable closed-toed shoes and layered clothing are highly suggested. A waiver from the Haw River Assembly must be signed prior to the event.
